Whitsand Bay Beach has been identified by Holiday Which as one of the top three beaches in Cornwall. Both beaches in Portwrinkle are recommended in the Good Beach Guide 2004.
There are two beaches in Portwrinkle, Harbour and Chalet - the latter preferred for surfing. A few minutes away are 5 miles of clean sandy beaches stretching along the bay. Portwrinkle and Whitsand Bay is the place to be when the surf's up.
As well as surfing and sunbathing there are rock pools to explore. Portwrinkle is also popular for beach fishing. Depending on the weather, the season, skill or good fortune plaice, pollack and sea bass can be caught.
Mackerel can usually be caught any time they are around with nothing more than a rod, line and some feathers. |
