THE GUESTS
WHO BROUGHT HOME THE BACON
(or
at least the makings of a Sunday Lunch)
One evening on arriving
home at about 11.30pm we met our guests who had only just themselves
arrived back from a Friday evening at the Finnygook Inn. They were in
excellent humour after winning the weekly raffle at the Inn. The prize
was a hamper containing the makings for a complete Sunday lunch which
they carried back in triumph to the Lookout.
As the hamper contained
two large (uncooked) chickens, potatoes, vegetables, sauces etc. it
was quite heavy and they took great delight in awarding us their prize.
As they were leaving the following day we were not able to cook and
share the Sunday lunch with them. Instead we had several bottles of
wine in the conservatory that evening to celebrate their good fortune.
"Well that's a first!"
